SUCCESSFUL CONCERT HELD TO ASSIST W.D.F.U. FUNDS ROTORUA WOMEN'S CLUB (From Our Own Correspondent.) As briefly reported in a previous issue a very successful concert arranged by the Rotorua Women's Club -was held in the Reporoa Hall on Wednesday night. The recently formed branch of the W.D.F.U. ,at Reporoa, being most anxious to obtain dental treatment for the children of the district, appealed to the Women's Club to assist them, and the outcome was one of the happiest of evenings which' has heen spent at the soldiers' settlement. Major Dansey, president of the Rotorua branch of the R.S.A., addressing the audience, said it gave the committee of the R.S.A. great pleasure to assist the Women's Club and thanked them for the help which they had extended to the returned men and their sympathetic treatment of all cases with which they dealt. Major Dansey also extended greetings to the Reporoa members on behalf of the Rotorua assoeiation. The programme opened with the singing of the National Anthem followed by community singing, conducted by Mr. W. Harris. A varied ptogramme was presented, songs by Miss K. Hall and Miss Owens, Mr. Harris and Mr. Thomas, violin solos by Mr. Painton, dances by Miss Joan Urquhart and duets by Miss Owens and Mr. Thomas. A one act play "Widows" by Misses Hitchen, Kelly and Dillon, was very well received. The proceedings terminated when the president of the Women's Club OSTrs. I. M. Davidson) presented Mrs. Brown (president of the W.D.F.U.) with a bouquet of roses and sweet p'eas. In hahding Mrs. Brown a cheque for £13 6s 9d the total proceeds of the evening's entertainment, Mrs. Davidson said the Women's Club considered it a privilege to assist the Reperoa women in securing school dental treatment, as one of the club's ambitions was to co-operate with country women. Reporoa as a soldiers' settlement, made a special appeal to the members' sympathy. She wished them success in their new venture and in conclusion, Mrs. Davidson thanked the Rotary Club, Returned Soldiers' Assoeiation, the performers, and all those who lent cars for transport purPoses, special thanks being due to Messrs Heley (accompanist), Harris and Painton. Mrs. Brown ' briefly expressed th'e Reporoa, residents' gratitude for a very enjoyable evening. A particularly enjoyable supper was served the members of the concert P'arty, and the younger folk indulged in dancing until the early hours of the morning.
