London, Nov. 25. General the Earl of Cavan has been appointed to succeed the late Lord Methuen, as Field-Marshal of the British Army. The Earl, who was promoted general in 1921, was largely responsible for the Italian defeat of the Austrian troops in the early part of 1918.
