HOME SIDE DiSMISSED FOR 273 IN FIRST iNNiNGs bradman unsettled

-By Telegraph — Copyrlght).

Rec. Nov. 25, 7.15 p.m. SydneY, Nov. 25In the match between England aiid New South Wales to-day, the weather was fine but cloudy and the wicket slow and easy. Larwood Ihe twelfth maii. • Jardine called wrongly for the first time of the toun. Fingleton and Bell opened in cool weather on, a batsmen's wicket- Allen and Voce had charge of .the attack, but the former was unable to strike his length, Bell collecting three fours from him in three overs. Voce operated with a closely packed leg field and Fingleton was uncomfortable facmg him. Vocd incensed the crowd by making the ball fly over around the batsmen's head. Fingleton received some nasty knocks over the heart and on the arm. Tait's bowling was excellent and had Fingleton and Bell missing badly. :The latter was eventually caught in the slips. Bradman was never at ease, being troubled by Voce's fliers and Tait's ; perfect length. With Fingleton and McCabe associated, the runs came at a good rate, 150 beiiig raised in 136 minutes. McCabe smacked Verity for four successive fours, making the partnership reach 100 in 57 minutes- Fingleton, who earlier was subdued, now showed greater confidence. Tait was brought on again and dismissed McCabe, Allen taking a fine catch at short leg. McCabe gave a bright display for 82 minutes, hitting 11 fours. Fingleton reached the century in 201 minutes. A section of the crowd then demonstrated against Voce when he struek Herd and Cummings on the body with fast deliveries. The tail-enders offered little resistance. Fingleton carried his bat, being solid rather than brilliant. Tait was easily the most dangerous bowler. The fielding of the Englishmen was not up to international standard. The attendance was 26,384 and the gate receipts £1848. .
