— By Telegraph— Copyrlght).
Rec. Nov. 24, 7. p.m. London, Nov. 24. Major W- E. Elliot, Minister of Agriculture, announced that the Government was appointing a meat reorganisation committee to deal with the question of fat stock, with Colonel Lane-Fox as chairman. Major Elliot added that the committee, representative of the meat trade, is being appointed to watch the problem of retail priees in conneetion with the operation of the scheme of meat restriction. The committee would be chosen from representatives of all bodies engaged in handliiig meat, including co-operative stores, and big and little shops, the Marquis of Linlithgow being an independent chairman. It was desirable that the interests of the consumer should be kept closely in front of the picture, and the committee would do that. The Government was determined to grapple with the problem of prices, which he believed was the fundamental problem to-day.
