WOMEN'S CLUB

SOCIAL ACTIYITIES CLOSE WITH MUSICAL ' EVENING. The social gatherings for this year of Ihe Rotorua Women' s Club were brought to a close in the( form of a most enjoyable musieal evening held at the Kiosk last Thursday. There was a large attendanee of members and friends present, and time passed very pleasantly in eompetitions, items and social chat. A musieal eompetition arranged by Mrs. W. A. Carter drew much amusement from tbe competitors, who were asked to diseern fragments of wellknown ehoruses and name tbem correctly. Mrs. B. M. Green apparently had th'e keenest ear for music tbat evening and was the fortunate winner of a delieious-looking cake whieh had been donated as the prize. "The Will," a short play in three aets by A. A. Milne, was read by the evening"* circle of the club, and was gueatly appreciated by the listeners. The semi-humorous, yet tragic theme was a most appealing factor in the play, depicting as it did three definite stages in the life of a wedded eouple. Those taking part were: — Mrs. A. C. Randerson, Mrs. D. M. Ford, Mrs. Camphell, Miss Hitchens, Miss M. MeKenzie and Miss D. Hamilton. Two songs by Mrs. Fraer were very much enjoyed, espeeially "In an Old Fashioned Town," which always has the special charm of an old favourite. After supper, Mrs. H. Grihble read a most interesting paper on one of the hiking tours of Rotorua's newly-form-ed eluh, and Mrs. C. Rowley concluded the evening programme with two wellchosen elocutionary items. Among the ladies present were: — Mesdames Davidson, W. L. Richards, ! N.,M. Keane, W. A, McLean, D. M. Ford, B. M. Green, A. Kean, A. C. 'Randerson, W. Steele, G. French, Nixon, C. Rowley, Cohnle, Mansfield, A. . Steele, H. Gribble, Campbell, Campny, R. Stewart, W. A. Carter, W. J Winslade and Fraer. Misses E. Robinson, Johnson, Hitehens, Hall, E. Winslade, M. MeKenzie, G. La Trobe Hill, Robinson, D. I Hamilton.
