DISTRESSING TRAGEDY IN FOXTON MILKING SHED BROTHER ARRESTED

Foxton, Wednesday. A shocking shooting tragedy occurred on a farm on the FoxtonLevin highway, near Foxton, last evening. During milking operations carried out by Mr. R. Easton and his two sons an argument '.occurred | between the boys. Roy, aged 16 years, left the shed and shortly afterwards the father heard the report of a gun, and, looking round', saw his eldest sori, Jack Easton, single, aged 20 years, get up from his seat, stagger to a fence, and collapse. He died within ten minutes, of gunshot wounds in the chest. The Victim of the shooting tragedy was a well-known and popular young Foxton resident- He visited Levin during the day while his father and brother were working at Waiterere. All returned home in time for milking. The father rushed to a neighbour's residence and telephoned a doctor and the police-, but Jack Easton died within ten minutes. The younger boy, who ran towards some bush on the property lost one eyes in an accident as a child. The family had been on the farm only three months.
