'PLANE5 SOON PROCURABLE FOR ONE HUNDRED POUNDS
-By Telejrraph — Copyrlght).
Rec. Nov. 24, 1 a.m. London, Nov. 23. Aeroplanes will be cheaper than motor cars in 1933 says the Daily Mail's aviation expert. It is estimated that 150,000 young rnen and women would go in for flying if it was as cheap as motoring- The engine of a light aircraft costs £300. A motor cycle engine could be fitted to a machine for £25. Aircraft have already been tested which would be marketable in mass production at probably £100. They would, admittedly be unsuitable for long dislanees, but would be suitable for short business and pleasure journeys. Five firms were manufacturing machines from £150 to £310, compared with the cheapest market prices at present of £550.
