The Govornment meteorolojilst issued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — . General situatio'n; The recent anticyclone passed away eastward and an intense westerly depression is advancing on to the Dominion; barometers I have failen considerably in the far ! south. Fforecagt: Winds strong 'northerly to westerly of gale force in many places, backing to southerly to-morrow in the far south. Weather: Unsettied and squally with rain in. distrigts with a westerly aspeot, some heavy falls; mainly dry and warm at first in eastern districts, -but showers and much lower temperatures after a southerly change due j in 24 to 36 hours. Following are the barometer, maximurn and rriinimum thermometer, s ci ri - shine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Pepartment for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
