SHOT IN CHEEK
ASSAILANT THROWS KETTLE OF BOILING WATER OVER WOMAN. SUICIDE ATTEMPTED. Sydney, Saturday. Two people were admitted to Maitland Hospital last night — a man with a gunshot wound in his right cheek and a woman with head injuries and sealds to the shoulder. The victims are Alexander Charles Eilicott, farm labourer, of Oak Hampton Road, West Maitland, and Mrs. Baldwin, of Telerah Street, Telerah. Ellicott's condition last night was critical. Police state that Eilicott visited the home of Mrs. Baldwin. She was later found by neighbours with blood stains from the wounds in her head. A broken iron kettle was in the house. Later in the night police found Eilicott at his home suffering from loss of blood. A ■ double-barrelled shotgun and two discharged cartridges were on the floor beside him. One shot had apparently struck the ceiling and another the wall.
