MINISTER REFUSES REQUEST BY A COUNTY COUNCIL

Auckland, Tuesday. Having been put to a great deal of expense and b other by trying to trace cyclists who offended against bylaws, the Manukau County Council •suggested to the Government that cycles be registered, so that offenders could be rnore easily traced. At this morning's meeting of the council there was a letter from the actingMinister of Transport, who declined to give effect to the council's recommendation. He pointed out the large numher of bicycles in the Dominion, and the practical difficulties of havthem registered.
