Comment has previously been made in these columns upon the lack of enterprise and competition among the farmers of the district. That Rotorua can grow root crops equal to anything produced in New Zealand has been amply proved, but who has grown them ? The same men have carried off the priz-es year after year and it speaks highly for their keen interest in the welfare of the show that they should continue to exhibit without the incentive of active comp'etition. With the advent of a more attr active show and stimulated enterprise on the part of the association, it is to be hoped that farmers throughout th'e district will link up and assist not only by the entry of exhibits, but also by taking a live interest in the association* by becoming members, attending the fixture and bringing along their friends and relatives to make the gathering worthy of the district. * * * *
