SWIMMING CARNIVAL

. meeting to-morrow EXCELLENT ENTRIES RECEIYED FOR ROTORUA CLUB'S OPENING HANDICAPS DECLARED The 'excellent supporfc accorded the Rotorua Swimming Club' in its first public venture, to-morrow evening's carnival in tbe Blue Bath, fully justifies the reeent formation of the club and augers well for its ultimatei success. In all, the total entries for the sixteen events on] the programme total in the vicinity of 190 and necessitate practically all the races being decided in heats. Included in this total is a large number oflcompetitors from the poipils of the Rotorua High School where swimming is an important item in the school sports curriculum. An interesting programme has Been arranged and provides for competitions for men, women and primary school children over varying distances. In order that the public may have an uninterrupted view of each race, an energetie committee has! arranged for seating accommodation for 400 persons and there is no doubt that this will be taxed to its fullest extent. In addition to1 the ordinary competitions, two novelty raees will add much enjoyment to the carnival, and the coneluding exhibition of life-sav-ing methods by Mr. H. Wilkinson, should prove both interesting and instructive.
