MOT!OR CAR DAMAGED BY STRIKING COW

A five seater Overland car, owned by Mr. B. .C. Wolfenden, of Opotiki, had its steering gear badly damaged when it kit a eow, the property of Jack Kohi, of Otapi, on Saturday afternoon, and the cow had to he destroyed. There were three passengers in the car, Messrs J. McGuire, G. Mulhern and T. Hickey, and the party were proceeding from Opotiki to Te Kaha when the accident occurred on the flat road between Omaramutu and Otapi, 14 miles from Opotiki. There were three cows on the road. The driver managed to miss the hrst two, but struck the third with great force. The passengers in the car were unhurt, hut the vehicle had to he towed haek to Opotiki for xepairs.
