ALLEGATIONS THAT POISGN WAS GIVEN

Auckland, Saturday. A widow, Elspeth Kerr, nurSe, aged 45, was eharged in the Supreme Court yesterday, with admimstering poison, or causing it to be taken, with intent to injure a child. Ml*s. Kerr, who had been in eustody since April, Waa aecompanied in Court hy a wardress. In asking for an adjournment, counsel stated: "I know that the Crown has a considerable volume of evidence. It is technieal and refers to chemical and medieal aspects of the case. I do not know the nature of it, except in general terms. I submit that it is abundantly obvious that the defenee is at present incapfable of dealing with the details of the charge, and I ask for an opportunity to hecome more fully informed of the position. The case was adjourned until th'e next criminal sessions, bail being allowed in £500, with the seeurity of the accused's own bond. *• His Honour instructed that the accused should report once a week to the police.
