Wyatt and Duckworth put up a stubborn defenee, but irqnmonger, who was in good fiorm troubled them both. Duckworth batted 56 minu'tes. Hammond opened with two vigorous i f durs with'?the first over from Fleet-wood-Smith.- Wyatt occupied 118 minr ; utes in .securing -80 runs, Tronmonger was very accurate. • Only seven ruris were secured for seven overs.. Wyatt j batted 142 minutes • and hit nine | boundaries, giving a sound display. jj • Jardin-ef had a splendid ■ reception. jj He commenced cautiously. Hammond . was . brisk .against Fleetwood- Smith, |i whose length was inaceurate. Ham-. mond, when 32,*- placed FleetwoodSmith just out of reach of Alexander at mid-on.
