The age-old supisrstition that a loaf ioaded with quicksilver placed in. a river or canal will float over the spot where a body lies was tested with dramatic success at Bedworth', near Nuneaton, England, during the search for the body of Ethel Wright. She was last seen on the bank of a canal, where her purse was found later. Dragging proved useless, and her uncle d'ecided to try the old superstition to trace the body. He put a loaf in the canal, and tciok policemen to the spot. The loaf was found a few yards from a bridge. Amid great excitement dragnets were thrown into th'e water, and the girls' body was located and brought to the side of the canal. t-. •
