Details of a recommendation by the British Pig Products' Commission, which, if carried into effect, will be of great importance to the pig industry in New Zealand, have been conveyed by cablegram to the New Zealand Cooperative Pig Marketing Association by Mr. Eliot R. Davis, who is at pre-° ssnt in London. Mr. Davis stated that the commission's report recommended the restriction of foreign imports of hacon and hams, starting in July, by 130,000 tons, based on the 1931 import figures, The commission further suggested the reorganisation of"the British pdg industry with a view to increasing all Empire supphes, including those from New Zealand, the foreign quota to be deCreased as Empire suppli'es increased. Mr. Davis stated the purpose of the seheme was to raise the price level of hacon and give the Empire an unlimited opportunity of expansion. He considered the industry in New Zealand should organise to take advantage' of the position.
