Counter allegations of graft were mad® by Mr. J. T. Lang, leader. of the N.S.W, Labour Opposition and Mr. B. S. Stevens, the Premier, when Mry Lang moved a censure motion in the Assembly alleglng bribery on the part of Mr. Stevens to procure allegedly false levidence ip connection with the tin hare scandals. Mr. Stevens reciprpcated by allegipg that a payment of £24,000 was made to Mr. Lang on the eve of the 1927 fplectipns and that £4000 of this went to Mr. Lang's private fixed deposit account.

Sydnejy, Noyember 9,' A censure motion against the Stevens' Government is being launch'ed to-day by Mr. J. T. Langr the leader of the Opposition, in'the Assembly condemning the Government for be^ ing associated with the payment of £2000 to Mr. Redmond Barry, whq unl dertook to procure seeret testimony in regard tp the tin hare deajings, by which former Ministers of the C-rown were defamed and party advantages obtained. The motion claims that such payment amounted to bribery.

A Sensation The Premier, Mr. B. S,° Stevens, gave | Mr. J. T. Lang every facility in mov- j ing his censure motion. Mr. Lang de- . clared that the Premier and oth'ers entered into a eonspiracy to procure by bribery, false evidence whereupon ; he denounced former Ministers of the Crown. He reviewed at great length nego- i tiations with Mr. Barry and the diligent efforts on the part of Mr. Stevens to hring Mr. Lang prominently into the tin-hare scandal. Mr. Stevens cneated a sensation when he statea that on the eve of the eleetions of 1927, when the vote on tin hare racing was in the balance, Mr. Lang received £24,000 for his ; trust .account. Twelve thousand pounds was spent on the eleetions, £4,000 was transferred to J. T. Lang's fixed dep'osit account and £256 to his private 1 account, and £2000 to Mr. M. Gosling, who labar became Chief Secretary. The censure motion was defeated ' by 48 votes to 19 votes.
