A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

general business SUGGESTiON OF FOUR-DAY ANNUAL SHOW NOT favourfd. EXECUTIVE ELECTED. A meeting.of the general committee of the Rotorua Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Mon ay evening, the following bemg P*?sent: Messrs. H. P. Ford, president (m the chair), E. La Trobe Hill, E. T. Johnson, G. Steele, E. Ford, G. Gunson, H. Gribble, H. Beale, E. Pratt, C. Butrows, H. M. Martin, J. Denyer, J. M- Job®rts' J. Hale, C. Shooter, A. L. Keith, J. J. Smyth, Mesdames E. Morrison, J. Moule,, E. Newson and the secretary, Mr. H. Willdnson. Advice was received from Messrs. J. G. Ward and Co., Ltd., that a eup, •to be known as the Sutton Cup, was being donated for outright competition in the garden section of next year's show. . An offer of co-operation m the event of the association deciding to hold a summer show was received from the Rotorua Hunt Club; the matter was d'eferred .for consideration at a later date. The following were elected an executive committee in conjunction with the officers of the association: — Messrs. S. J. Hale, C. Burrows, J. M. Roberts, G. Steele and E. Johnson. It was suggested by the secretary that, as the association would probably have its own building the next annual show cover a period of four days from May 17 to 20. He poinfed out that the poultry section could be held on the concluding two days as had proved very successful in Whakatane, and also that the longer period would offer inducement to advertisers of stock implements and other farm appliances to take space in the building. M. G. Steele considered that in view of the great difficulty which had been experienced in the past in securing the services of stewards, it would be aslcing too inuch of them to officiate for four days. Mr. H. M. Martin thought that the interest would not be sustained over four days and advocated. the experiment of two days in the new building for a start. it was decided to instruct the secretary to enquire into the suitability of the suggested dates, and leave the final decision in the hands of the executive committee. The following were appointed an advertising committee: — Messrs. E. T. Johnson, E. Pratt and the secretary.
