Wright, late of the Frankton Junction Railway Brigade, has taken the matter up and any person willing to join up should get in touch with him. It is pi'oposed to call a jpublic meeting at an early date. . Mortgage Adjustments The adjusLment commission dealing with applications under the Mortgagors' Relief Act opened its sitting in Rotorua Courthouse yestei day morning. The proceedings were not open to the press. Fire Destroys Camp Another tent fire is reported to have occurred yesterday morning at Ko-, poriki. A big double tent camp owned by Messrs P. Doyle and J. Allen, was totally destroyed with the entire contents. When the men left camp in the morning everything ..was, apparently, safe and a large piece of iron had been placed as a protection over the fire, hut som'ething evidently went wrong and the whole camp suddenly burst into flames. Both men lost every single thing they owned in the camp Mr. Doyle's posssssions including many articles which h'e had -treasured since the war. Amateur Athletics Members or intending members of the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, who have not yet entered for the club's November-Decem-ber series of evening sports meetings, the second of which will be held on Friday, are advised that entries close with Mr. A. de Luen, Hinemoa Street at noon to-day. School Committee Federation At a meeting o.f the Rotorua Primary School committee held last week a circular letter was received suggesting the formation of a National Federation of School Committees of New Zealand in order that the question of capitation grants and other matters miglit he adequately placed before the Government. It was decided to point out to the primary Schools Association the necessity for it to affiliate with the federation, f ailing which the Rotorua committee would affiliate direct. School Sports FunI The proposal to hold a fancy dress dance in aid of the Rotorua Primary School Sports and Christmas Tree Fund was approved at a meeting of the school committee held last week. The dance is to be held before December 9. Life Members' Thanks At Monday evening's meeting of the Rotorua Agricultural and Pastoral Association committee, Mr. G. Steele thanked the committee for the honour of life membership recently conferred upon him and said that he highly appreciated the opportunity of being associated with such a capable committee as the present executive. Crack' Runners Providing no meetings are held in their own district during the Christmas holidays, three Taranaki athletes, Black, Thompson and Webster have stated their intention of participating in the Rotorua Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's Boxing Day meeting at the Government. Grounds. All are prominent New Zealand amateurs, Black being the quarter mile New Zealand champion and representative at the last Olympic Games. Thompson is also a promising quart-er-miler. Serious Results David Bristoe, one of the two Maoris who suffered injuries by burning at Parekarangi in the early * hours of Monday morning, has been placed on the seriously injured list at King George V Hospital. No one is able to say exactly how the fire occurred, but from such information as can be gleaned it appears that both men were asleep at the time. They were awakened by finding their tent in flames. In _ rushing for the entrance David Bristoe struck his head against a tent pole. This left him in a dazed condition and Josep-h Bristoe rushed back to rsnder aid, but in doing . so was himself painfully burned. However, he managed to get David out and carried him to Hari Tini's camp where he arranged for an ambulance. The injured man is married but the number of his* dependants is not knovn. Ladies!
