THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroloplst issued the following weather report and forecast last niffht: — General situation: An anti-cyclone has crossecl Northern New Zealand, and another is located over eastern Australia, while a moderate westerly depression is crossing the South Island to-day. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong westerlies backing to south-westerly and southerly. Weather: Changeable and somewfiat squally with showers in most districts, thunder in places; temperatures becoming cooler and improving soon in """western districts. Following are the barometer, maximum and minimum thermometer, sunshine, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation StaI tion by the Rotorua Tourist Department for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday. Barometer 29.931ins. Thermometer (max.) 68.0deg. Thermometer (min.) 46.5deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 37.5deg. Rainfall Ni^ Bright Sunshine 9.7hrs.
