FIXED AIRPLANE
LATEST PARIS VOGUE j PROFITS DONATED TOWARD AID' OF DISABLED . AIRMEN. REALISTIO SENSATIONS. Paris, Monday. Stationary flying has becoma an important occupation here, now that the charitable association of Les Ailes Brise'es, ofi Broken Wings, has -organised a new school of aviation, which is installed on the roof of a large department store. Profits from the new school are for the benefit of aviators who have met with accidents while flying, and the 'plane used is called the "Hoverplane" from its functipns of hovering over the same spot, but giving 'all the flying sensations. The "Hoverplane" is bnilt like a regular airplane, with one seat and j all of the controls are the same as t in a large 'plane. It is firmly attacbed tq a long iron pple cemented . to the roof and whmls round and round in a circle. When the propeller begins to whir the 'plane dips towards th'e ground, or turns skywards, continuing to circle backwards and forwards with all the regular flying sensations, without any of its attendant dangers. The price of a ride is lOd for a fiveminute .lesson, and there always is a long line of peopld waiting for their turn. Many Parisians have proved to themselves whether of not they were air-minded by.trial spins in the "Hoverplane" before taking a trip to Le Bourget for a "free" flight. Pilot licenses will be given to the first three amateurs taking the lessons and passing all of the preliminary tests given to them.
