Unpieasant Night "The five men had an unenviable experience in the bush. They entered the bush on the western side of the Maungarewa Gorge, alonga road which extends for seven miles into Hhe bush. After travelling this road for some distance they struck off to the left in search of pigs. Late in the afternoon they turned to come back on to the road but they had proceeded so far in a south-westerly direction that on their return they crossed over the top of the road and continued on north in a deep ravine. The men had to spend the night in the bush, but eventually came out' on the Omanawa block and eventually reached the spot where they met the rescue party.
