Whakatane, Thursday, At about nine o'clock; 'to-night a serious fire oecurred in the Whakatane main business area, in premises owned by Mr. M, Ramson, and. occupied hy Mr. George Adler, grocer and Mr, R. j. Bird,.draper. . ... . Th'e fire, which apparently star.ted at the rear of the premises, had -.a good hold before it was no.ticed, 4nd completely gutted hoth shops,. .The-.^re was well under control by lO.lfLp.pa. No insurances are yet available,
