The House of RepresentafxVeS spent praetically the whole afterpOQn and part of the evening. discussing the Industrial Conciliation aud Arhjr tration Amendment Bill No. 2, intruduced by Mr. J. McGombs (Labour, Lyttelton) , which like its predeeessor, aims at the reinstatement qf the principle of compulsory arbitrqtion... After a discussion of well-worn arguments, marked occasionally .by acrimony, the second reading was defeated by 41 votes to 24 votes. Messrs. A. M. Samuel (Government, Thames) , E. T. Tirikatene.-(Ra-tana, Southern Maori),, and H. M. Rushworth (Independent, Bay of Islands, voted with Labour. - -
