ENTHUSIASM IN CITY
Rec. Nov. 3, 5. p.m. Rugby, November 2. The announcemen't of the conversion loan issue was reeeived with enthusiasm by the city. Great activity developed in the gilt-edged market on the London Stock Exchange, and,' although the earlier sharp advances were not fully maintained, quotations remained considerahly highei*, the balance of the war loan assented, which closed at £100 5s, being well under the best. An increased demand for sterling and an all-round improvement in rates were recorded on the London foreign exchange market.
