-By Telegraph — Copyright).
Rec. Oct. 30, 6.30 p.m. Perth, October 30. Rain held off and a stiff southwesterly was drying the wicket for the resumption of the match hetween the Englishmen and the combined Australians. The wicket was slow, very soft and wet to play. Bradman was dismissed by a wonderful catch by Hammond, who held the ball alth'ough he fell in doing so. Verity was brilliant, making the ball rise on the pitch. He took six for 23 in the first innings. The sticky wicket evidently suited him. Later the figures went to seven for 37, ineluding Bradman with his first ball. The combined team's innings provided a procession. Bradman was the first to bat, getting two off the first ball and a single from the next. He defiected the first ball from Verity to the second slip where Hammond was waiting". McCabe- alone outplayed the bowlers, only striking loose ones. In the second innings, Allen. was given the bowling. Bradman again failed. He was apparently uncomfortable on the stielcy wicket and gave an easy catch to Pataudi. The improving wicket gave Singleton an opportunity and he rattled on a sparkling half century, but generally the display throughout was disappointing, and was no criterion of the merits of the players. The attendance was 20,000 and the gate £1590. The Englishmen leave to-night for Adelaide. COMBINED TEAM First Innings.
