GARDEN PARTY IN AID OF ST. JOHN'S CHURCH

Our Own Correspondent) .

(From

A garden party in aid of St. John's Church was held in the well-kept grounds of Mrs. T. Fleming's property on Thursday afternoon. The different goods' stalls were well stocked and well patronised. The Hon. J. B. Gow opened the f ete and in the course of his remarks, mentioned the great work done by the women of the Christian Church throughout the course of history. The afternoon was passed very happily, the proceeds from the stalls coming up to all expectations. A bedspread, made by Mrs. T. Urquhart, was won by Mrs. Gillett, of Auckland, and Mrs. Grant was the winner of the dinner. Afternoon tea was served in Mrs. "Fleming's drawing room and the party was brought to a close in the late afternoon with a vote of thanks to the hostess.
