LADIES' GOLF

SEASON CONCLUDES 'PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES TO ROTORUA CLUB MEMBERS - - LIST OF WINNERS Ideal weather favoured the official closing of the Rotorua Ladies' Golf Club's season yesterday and throughout the day a. good muster of members engaged in the final competition matches of the season. The A grade driving competition was won by Mrs. Butler with a drive of 149 yards, while in the B grade Mrs. P. J. Sherriff's drive covered a distance of 160 yards. Approaching and putting competitions which were also played during the afternoon were won by Mrs Hay and Miss Hawkesworth while a Canadian foursomes was won by Mrs. R. C. Smith and Mrs. A. Walden. , At the conclusion of the day's play, members gathered on the verandah of the pavilion where Miss Snodgrass, in calling upon the president, Mrs. S. H. Hay. to present the trophies won during the season, referred to the successful season which' was now concluded and congratulated the winners on their success. Slowly but surely, said Miss Snodgrass, the standard of ladies' golf was improving and many good cards had been returned during the season. To develop a player's game, strict attention to practice was necessary and she considered that the time had arrived when the club would have to provide an area for practice purposes. The trophies detailed below were then presented by Mrs. Hay. Championships. A Grade: Miss Snodgrass, runner-up, Mrs. Paratu. B Grade: Mrs. Finn; runner-up, Mrs. R. C. Smith.
