TARANAKI GOLD
FACTORY RETURN S RECORD SOME REMARKABLE INCREASES Discussing the present dairy season, the Taranaki Herald says: — Climatic conditions have heen particularly favourable this season for dairying and North Taranaki dairy companies report extraordinarily large increases in production. Although the winter was a severe one there were not the cold rains usually experienced and cattle generally speaking came through the off season in really good condition. The frequent frosts, too, have apparently had a beneficial effect on pastures and once growth commenced the grass came away wonderfully well, aided by several warm rains. True, there was one rather long spell for this time of the year without rain and farmers were beginning to feel somewhat anxious as to the future, hut at an opportune time warm rains were again experienced and grass is now well ahead of the stock. In fact, there is •more growth' and better grass than for many years and this, plus the steady improvement of our dairy herds, has resulted, as already intimated, in tremendous increases in production compared with last season. Remarkable Increases. In some cases production has increased praetically 30 per cent. For the month of September the supply to the North Taranaki Company showed an increase of 26,5931b of fat; Omata an increase of 14,5441b, Mangorei 12, 9831b, Waitara-Taranaki 97061b, Patua 86051b, Brooklands 63521b, Rahotu 57711b, Lepperton 33411b, Bell Block 15971b, Tarurutangi 14111b and Royal Oak 934ib. Qnite a number of companies have
f ound it necessary to add con^to their plant in order to ihe increased supply, and eve* these additions it is doubtful V ihey will be able to handle th^ at the flush period without ther provision. The season M: so good that more than has already exceeded its last » flush supply. H
