MAJESTIC THEATRE
TO-NIGHT. The fascinating, sparkling charm possessed by old Vienna is exeniplified in the latest British Dominions' film to emerge from the English studios of this progressive film company, in the shape of "The Beggar StudenV the Yiennese operetta which has charmed millions with its appealing music, rollicking choruses and catchy tunes. The modefn version of this famed operetta opened last night at the Majestic Theatre, and patrons of this theatre are warned that if they miss the production they will have missed the movie classic of 1932, as, on ac- ' count of its immensity and the enormous expense incurred in gathering such a large band of famous artists together can never be hoped to be repeated.
An lmmense cast of stage and' screen celebrities includes Lance Fairfax, the charming "Red Shadow" who appeared in the musicale, "The Desert Song," which had a successful season here not so long ago, and who oceupies the stellar role as Carl Ro- 1 maine, "The Beggar Studenf." His voiCe is a revelation as far as th'e' sound screen is con.cerned, and its like has never -efore been equalled here' by stars who have visited our shores per stage or screen. Shirley Dale, beautiful operatic star, who possesses looks plus personality that makes 1 her the finished artiste for such a role . as she is allotted in this production: is the feminine lead; Mark Daly as the • singing sergeant, with' Jerry Yarrio, : supplies the lighter vein without which no filiii is complete.
