It was. stated that defendant gave some trouble to the police by refusing :t0 give his name, and when asked why by the magistrate ha said he was afraid his wife would take to him with the copper-stick if she found out, Tbe magistrate (Mr. E. D. Mosley) expressed the opiniori that th'e dis-, ciplinary measures practised by some wives were probably very good.
