BIG ATTENDANCE AT . LABOUR DAY FUNCTION

•On Monday, in the Lyric Hall an evening of bridge, flag 500 and dancing was given by the Opotiki branch of the Women's Institute in aid of the Wairoa relief fund. The hall was crowded with dancers and thtr supper hall with card players. Mr. C. Shove made a very competent M.C. for the dancing, and Mr. i A. E. Martin for the cards. I The Institute provided the supper and also the prizes for the cards. A novelty dance was won by Miss J. Kelly and Mr. Whitfield, and Mr. Dodgson won a mystery bag competition. Prizes for the flag 500 were awarded to Mrs. G. Shalfoon, Miss Mokomoko, Mr. Tu Herewini and Miss Ambler. Consolation prizes were awarded to Miss M. Lambert, Mr. A. Appleton, Miss Savage and Mr. H.
