CREW OF LAUNCH SEEN SIGNALLING FOR HELP

Hastings, Tuesday. A launch was sighted late this afternoon a mile off the beach at Waihua, 12 miles south of Wairoa. The crew were seen to wave their arms, from which it was supposed that they had Had engine trouble and required ttssistanee. With the heavy fog and the approach of darkness,. the people on the beach lost sight of the launch, but lit a fite to ettahle it to keep its bearirigs. . It is not possible to get a rescue lauhch over the bar at Wairoa, and the people on Ihe beach at Waihua are unable to g^t ^p- the launch. A rescue boat has novf gone out from Napier an'd probably will return at noon to-morf OW with the disabled launch in tow.
