MOKORUA GOLF CLUB CLOSES VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON The finals of the Mokorua Golf Club's ehampionships were played today under ideal weather conditions. The results were as f ollows : — A grade opem championship, semi-final. Napier won from King, 1 up. The cards returned were 77 and 78. In the final, Eapier won from Powdrell, 4 and 3. In the contest for the president's trophy, semi-finals, Timbs won from Suckling 2 up and Reid won from Beckett, 2 up. Final: Timbs beat Reid, 2 and 1. B Grade: Piteaithley beat C. Armstrong, 2 up; Waugh beat Armstrong Snr., at the 19th hole. Final: Waugh beat Piteaithley, 5 and 4. King's trophy, semi-final, Newman beat Greenslade, 2 up. Oswald beat McGoughan, 4 and 3. Final, Oswald beat Newman, 3 and 1. After the completion of the competitions Dr. Appleby, president -of the club presented the trophies. The Mokorua Club has had a very successful season and although offieially, the season has closed, the links will be available for players at all times during the year. Various improvements are in train to further popularise the hill course and although at present a full 18 holes are available the playing area will be extended by 1500 yards before next playing season. The opening of the new hill road from the town will add greatly to the popularity which the hill links now enjoy.
