A PLEASED AUDIENCE ENJOYABLE PERFORMANCE" BY MISS DEL THOMPON'S P.URILS A FINE EXHIBTION. The foprth annual grand dance recital by pupils of Miss Del Thomp«son attracted a large; and enthuslastic audience to the Majestic Tbeatre.last Friday evening. The. performance was of a high standard and..refleets great credit upon Miss Thompspn's training and or'iginality. . The costumes were par.ticularly smart and attractiye, and added; atniosphere and colour to the dancing,.,th.e th'e colour schemes being especially good in the ballets. .- • •« - •/ After an opening overture hy Mr. Norris and his orchestra-a .ballet of twenty dancing girls, lookingiexeeedingly smart ih black and.white ensemb'les, appeared as the curtain;ci:pse.n.t . The home of the- -classics ' was , riot f orgotten when Betty Keane appearejl in a graceful greeiari darice,. This wqs followed by a tap • dance by "Edna Wilson, which called for much precision and rhythm, but shp did not* seen to find much. difficulties Jn. executing some of the most.difiic.ult steRS in company with a. lively, .tune froffi the orchestra. , . •' . > u Five different ballets were presented;during the evening. Alhheing varied and dainty in their ..performance. Spectre de la Rose was (a, pharmipg study in pale pink and. green,, ..and Yvonne Hay proved a..most ,exactilg coquette ronge in dealing. .with . hpr four dejected suitors. , . %e Mr. J. Thomas is always a popular parformer and his songs were much appreciated by the audience., 'Also assisting in the evening's programme was Miss G. Grace Gameron- Johnstone, whose" two violin soloa were much enjoyed. - Vvvv Winnie Foley in her Dance of the Scarecrow won deserved applause, for according to Winnie's dance a scarecrow is expected to be far morie supple that his appearance indicates. A lively Irish Jig by Jeari •• Reidy and a dance duo by Betty. Erieebone and June Lister, which * ' were bofti heartily applauded, closed the- first half of the programme. A very popular, as well as charming performance, was given by Valerie Davys in a simu.ltaneous- tap -dance. Her graceful arm riiovemehts .. .and sweet smile won h'er a hearty ovation. Noleen Pierce, although. a. yery small person, possesses a particularly sweet soprario yoice, and her singing of "Eleven Pounds of Heaven" * was heard to advantage. Every -inch a soldier Tooked June Lister, complete with cane and gold hraid in her -Military Toe Dance", and at the complefipn of the item was presented with a handsome searlet bouquet to match her costume". Although we are only emerging from the spring one could net mistake the message* of gold. • and brown Betty Kneehone hrought us -in her portrpyel of "Autumn." The familiar cartoons pf Mickey the Mouse were" faithfully preserited by Miss Noleen Pearce in • the roie of Mickey aqcompanied by beloved Minnie (Miss Audrey Brett), who more earlier in the programme discarded her character as Minnie in a clever Jazz Moderne. A hurglar hallet, armed with torch-
