THE ATTORNEY GENERALSHIP
Wellington, Wednesday. Speculation concei'ning the possible appoixxtment of Mr. Harold Johnston, K.C., of Wellington to the Upper House, was referred to in a question tabled in the House of Representatives this afternoon by Mr. H. G. R. Mason (Labour, Auckland Sub--urbs) . Mr. Mason asked the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) whether he had noticed a suggestion in the Auckland "Star" that the unsuccessful candidate for the suffrages of the people in the. Hutt electorate would be immediately appointed to the Legislative Council and to the of- - fice of Attorney-General and also reprints of an article in the New. Zealand Law Journal dealing with appointments to the Upper House and the Attorney Generalship. Mr. Forbes was invited to indicate whether tlxe statenxents represented the intentions of the Government or whether they were merely a publieation to the Government on behalf of the gentlemen mentioned.
