Rec. Oct. 19, 5.5 p.m. London, October 18. Several bodies of unemployed totalling at least 10,000, attempted to march to Westminster in order to interview members of the Cabinet and members of the House of Commons. Most of the marehers were well be-

haved, but conflicts occurred in South London in the evening. When mounted police headed the marehers from Westminster the front line of unemployed attempted to break the eordon of mounted police, forcing the police to charge the crowd. Th'e leaders of the unemployed suffered when the police pliea their batons freely. Scotland Yard took elaborate precautions to guard the approaches to the House of Parliament.
