ROTORUA No. 3 TROOP.

(Notes by

Last Friday evening a full muster | of patrols paraded in the School Hall j to undergo further patrol competitions | and general instructions. After the j usual preliminaries and inspection of | the troop, a horseshoe formation was ord'ered and it was within that age-old | formation that the picturesque ceremony of "swearing-in" was conducted by the S.M., Who admitted two new : recruits, after taking the oath. I The following scouts under P.L. H. ; Douglas have now qualified them- j selves to wear the rescuer's proficiency | badge: — P.L. H. Douglas, Scouts N. ; Mahima, A. Douglas, and P. Hodge. The troop is particularly pleased to I have really trained rescuers in their ■ midst. Under their leaders, the re- j | maining patrols rendered good displays in second-closs subjects, namely, first aid, dragging and the uses of the scout stave. The Court of Honour annonnces the ; following recent awards: — 1 I Scout C. Newmarch to Second j Kiwis. j Scout W. Fitzgerald to second Cuc- i i koos. i I Second L. Moloney to P.L. Kiwis. ! | Scout R. Campbell to Second Ko- | j tare. ' j j Second D. Murray to P.L. The following is an amusing essay which I received among the many on Friday night: — : "Easter Camp." I "Now I am just to writing about i : Easter camp. During our meeting on . Friday night, the S.M. suggested us to have our camp. We were all glad and we have to meet at the water troph. We went on our journey in our patrol was P. Farren, D. Jones, myself, W. Douglas. Well Fm sorry I don't know who was the other of our patrol. — Signed No, 3, Kotare."
