ZOO VISITOR ATTACKED. Edgar Jackson, of Belvidere Road, Liverpool, was tecently admitted to a j nursing-home suffering from injuries inflictad by a lion while he was visiting the new Liverpool Zoo. The lion, ■which is named Nero, fatally injured Captain Tom Purchase at Manchester ' some time ago. He suspected that Nero, a young lion, which had been in the show only six months, intended ' to attaek the girl, and he put up his artificial leg to ward the animal off. The lion turned on him, pulled the leg off, gripped Captain Purchase by the neck, and bit his back and leg. Attendattts had to fight the lion with poles. Captain Purchase died in hospital.
