STORY QF INTENTION TO RAISE BIG LOAN IN AUSTRALIA

Sydney, October 17. The Herald says, in Fe-deral circles statements that efforts are to be made to float a loan of £20,000,000 to meet the requirements of the Commonwealth and States are deprecated. The opinion is 'held in Canberra that to attempt to raise a loan of such magnitude at the present stage would not help in the restoration of confidenee of financial interests in the Governments. Mr. H. Stevens, the State Premier, stated that he had received no intimation that the Loan Council would consider the floating of a £20,000,000 loan in Australia.
