An oifering of just under 300 horses including about 40 unbroken. colts and 30 hacks, the majority of the remainder being good quality farm horses, m'et with very keen demand from a large gathering of buyers. Two horses from the same vendor made £34 each being bought by Mr. C.- Paris and Mr. S. J. Harlock. Mr. C. Paris also bought another grey gelding from Mr. J. N. Scott for £34 10s. Other best sorts of farm horses made from £28 to £32; good. useful farm horses, £16 to £25; poorer types, £9 to £14; others up to £8; good young unbroken horses, £17 to £21 10s; medium, £11 to £15; others up to £10; good hacks £8 10s to £11; medium, £6 to £8; poor ordinary types up to £5 10s. TE AWAMUTU SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report on their Te Awamutu sale, held on Thursday, as follows : — About the usual number of fat cattle made prices about on a par with late Frankton quotations. A very lafge entry of yearling lieifers was really more than buyers' requirements although for those first submitted for sale competition was very spirited and prices would, if anything, be firmer than has been ruling recently, particularly in the case of well-grown cattle with butterfat backing. As a result of the excessive supply several of the later pens were withheld. Another large yarding of dairy cows and heifers were in fairly keen demand right throughout the sale practically a total clearance being effected, prices showing a very apprcciable improvement on late rates. Best quality again were wanted most. Medium fat bullocks; £4 15s to £5 7s 6d; lighter quality, £4 7s 6d to £4 15s; medium fat cows, £2 12s 6d to £3 10s; lighter quality, £2 5s to £3 11s; unfinished, £1 15s to £2 5s; stores, 16s to £1 8s; others up to 14s; 2 pens of well-grown steers made £3 10s to £3 19s; best quality yearling heifers, £3 ls to £4; medium sorts, £2 8s to £3; poorer, £1 15s to £2 5s; inferior quality up to £1 10s; best dairy cows, £10 5s to £12 10s; medium sorts, £7 to £9 15s; poorer, £4 15s to £6 10s; good quality dairy heifers, £8 to £9 5s; medium, £5 to £7 10s; inferior cattle up to £4 10s. Sheep: — Two pens of hoggets of medium quality made from 8s to 9s 5d; a pen of 50 aged ewes with lambs at foot, made 5s 3d. Pigs : — An exceptionally heavy offering of mostly stores and weaners were in keen demand at the commencement of the sale, but slackened towards the end. Light porkers made £1 2s to £1 6s; large stores, 16s to £1 ls; poorer sorts, 12s to 15s; large weaners, 8s to 11s; smaller, 6s to 8s.
