NEWSPAPER'S DEFENCE Rec. Oct. 16, 6.30 p.m. New York, Oct. 15. The New York Wofld-Telegram, one of the Scrips-Howard puhlications, commenting on the Ottawa agreements, ' attacks the SmootsHawley tariff, and mentions that the
estimated loss on exportmgs was between 75,000,000 and 150,000,000 dollars annually. "We cannot complain of injustice," the journal stated, "when our two hest customers are simply retaliating against our monstrous tariffs. Perhaps the misguided voters, hoth Republican and Democrat, who have I heen f ooled in the past by prosperity through tariff myths, will learn from bitte-r experience."
