GERMAN OBJECTIONS
QUESTION OF EQUALITY Rec. Oct. 15. Berlin, Oct. 14. It is understood that Germany will maintain her refusal to go to Geneva as the French proposal for a meeting at Geneva is basecl on the standpoint that the Disarmament Conferenee- must not be deprived of the opportunity for dealing with Germany's demand for equality, which is what Germany desires to avoid. Consequently Germany's acceptance of Geneva as the meeting place would be tantamount to a capitulation and , participation in the Disarmament Conferenee before Germany's equality elaim is admitted. Germany is prepared to meet at any other locality, hoping thereby to induce France to change the venue. Regarding a London report that Britain is proposing a ten years' political status quo, German political circles are of opinion that such a truce would not be aceeptable and a conferenee based on such a proposal would he useless.
