"A PERFECT LADY." . • The predicament of a spineless man who. is foreed to make ardent love to an actress, with whom he has become inf atuated, under the watchfhl eyes of his fiancee will give filingoers ample cause for much fun and merriment wh'en they see "A Perfect Lady," showing at .the Majestic Theatre on Thursday next. Lord Tony Carderay, who is engaged to Lady Anne Burnuett, falls under the spell of a "gold-digging" actress, Jeanette Dubarry, hut instead of breaking off the engagement Anne obtains a position as Jeanette's maid in order to study her rival's charms. Matters become very complicated when Tony arrives, followed quickly hy another elderly admirer, the husband of one of Anne's friends, and Anne, herself, falls in love with a Canadian backwoodsman who has also become a victim of Jeanette's wiles. ■ How the actress is eventually shown ; up in her true colours, and how Anne ; captures her sliy strong he-man, is 1 amusingly and charmingly told in this ' film, adapted from , Frederick Jackson's play by Milton Rosmer and Frank Launder. Moira Lynd has her first leading part as Lady Anne, playing opposite Harry Wilcoxon, who makes his talkie debut as the Canadian. I
