CHILD SCALDED
DEATH FOLLOWS FALL INTO HOT POOL Fatal burns were received by a young Maori child, named Alec Eparaina, aged 4 years, through falling into a hot pool at Whakarewarewa at about 3.30 yesterday afternoon. - In company with a party of other children the boy was playing on the path in the vicinity of the Spout Baths. Apparently in running away to hide from his companions, he ran off the track and before he eouid re^ cover f ell into the boiling pool. At the time of the accjdent, no adults were in the immediate vicinity, but the screams, of the child and his playmates quickly attracted attention and brought his aunt from a nearhy house. By her efforts and the assistance of several other helpers the boy was pulled out of the pool, but by this time he had been severely scalded over the greater part of his body and was taken to the King George V, Hospital where he dje.d at 8 o'clock last evening. ... .
