SERVICE TEAMS MATCH AT SYDNEY WON BY N.Z. POSSIBLE NUMBER OF HITS

Sydney, October 14. At the New South Wales rifle shooting" meeting on the Anzac range, H. M. Nott (South Australia), and Dr. Searls (Victoria), 196 each, are leading at the end of the second stage of the King's prize. In boisterous weather Searls pieked up five points yesterday to equal Nott's aggregate. The Moree match, 10 shots at 700 yafds, was won by G. Nutt (Adelaide), with 49. Shepherd (Mosman) was runner up, with the same score. Cromie (New Zealand), with 46, won £1, The Mick Simmons aggregate of the Philip Charley and Moree matches was won by Searls with 97. G. Hill (Orange) was runner-up, also 97. New Zealand scorers: Cromie and Carter 91, E. Ballinger 88, Nicholl 87 — all winnihg £1 apiece. The Brigadier Heritage service teams' match was won by the New Zealanders, Nicholl, Chapman, O'Donnell and E. Ballinger, taking £10. Mosman and Neutral Bay were run-ners-up. Twehty teams competed. The conditions provided for 10 shots to be fired by each man at 200 yards. The New Zealanders scored the possibl'e num'bef of hits in each heat, and their victory was warmly applauded.
