LEAVE TC INTRODUCE AMENDMENT REFUSED

Wellington, Thursday. By 42 votes to 29, the House of Representatives to-day refused Mr. J. McComhs (Labour Lyttelton) leav? to introduce the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill which provided for the repeal of the amendment passed last session of Parliament when the principle of compulsory eonciliation and optional arbitration was established. After Mr. McCombs had replied to the arguments against tlie amendment the division was taken, Messrs H. Atmore (llnd. Nelson), G. C. Black (Ind., Motueka), A. M. Samuel (Govt., Thames), A. J. Stallworthy (Govt. Eden), E. T. Tirikatene (Ratana, S. Maori), C. A. Wilkinson (Ind., Egmont), and R. A. Wright (Govt. Wellington Suburbs), voted with the Labour Party.
