VISIT OF INSPECTION FROM DIRECTOR1 GENERAL

The f ollowing were present at the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Hospital Board, held on Friday: — Mesi srs. F. J. Short (chairman), G. Pow- _ ell, C. Black, J. H. Eeid, G. S. Moody, and Dr. H. Budd (medical superintendent) . An account which was received from the Cook Hospital Board for services rendered by the district nurse to a patient at Motu Hora. The secretary was instructed to write for partieulars and also to ask under what authority the services had been j rendered. The chairman reported that Dr. Watt, Director-General of Hospitals, aceompanied by Dr. Turbott had visited the hospital and . after carrying out an inspection, had complimented the medical superintendent and the staff, and also the board on the economies that the board had effected in =. several directions. The matron's report stated that the _ hospital had had a visit frOm the Dir-ector-General of Hospitals and "having as many as 21 patients in hospi- _ tal last week we found it difficult to r lceep a supply of fresh linen and also 'felt the shortage of pillows." The medical superintendent's report advised that during the month there had been 44 admitted and 35 discharged while 19 were still in hospital.
