JAPAN AND NEW GUINEA
London, Oetober 10. The Daily Herald gives prominence to a Canberra cable that official circles are stirred hy a report that Japan contemplates negotiating for the purchase of the Portuguese section of Timor. The strictest secrecy is maintained, But it is admitted that Japan in the past made overtures to buy the Australian mandate for New Guinea.
